Collection

What is Collection?

In remio, a Collection serves as both a type of note and a container, forming a key part of how high-level knowledge is aggregated and abstracted. Unlike traditional methods like folders or tags, remio emphasizes relationships between knowledge elements, which are reflected in the connections between notes and Collections. Collections streamline knowledge and resource management, allowing you to use them either as standalone containers or as overarching notes that include sub-notes.

Adding Notes to a Collection
  • Users can add notes to an existing Collection, where they become sub-notes.

  • To add a note, users select it and then choose "Add to Collection" from the options menu. A single note can be added to multiple Collections as needed.

  • If users add a note to a normal note, that note will automatically convert into a Collection.

  • Adding to Collections During Web Capture:

remio allows you to add web pages directly to a Collection during the web capture process. When using the remio browser extension, you have a few options:

    • Side Panel "Add to collections": When the remio side panel is active, you can also find an "Add to collections" option that functions similarly to the right-click method, offering recommendations and the ability to create new Collections.

This integration allows for a more efficient workflow for managing research and information gathered from the web by directly organizing it into relevant Collections.

Understanding Sub-Notes
  • Sub-notes within a Collection can be either regular notes or other Collections.

  • A note or Collection can belong to multiple Collections, offering users flexible organization options.

Viewing and Accessing Collections
  • Collections are displayed as cards in lists, alongside regular notes.

  • To access a Collection, users locate it in the side navigation panel and select it. This provides quick access to grouped content.

Using Smart Suggestions for Collections
  • When adding a note, remio may recommend existing Collections based on the note’s topic.

  • If no suitable Collection exists, the system may prompt users to create a new one. Users follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

Managing a Collection’s Contents
  • Users open a Collection to view its main content. Below this, a list displays all included notes.

  • To remove a note, users select it from this list and choose "Remove from Collection." The note will no longer appear in that Collection.

Integrating New Notes
  • When adding new notes to a Collection, remio will prompt users to blend them into the existing content.

  • Users follow the suggestions provided to maintain a cohesive structure within the Collection.

Using Collections with Smart Features
  • Collections and their notes are automatically considered as reference material when users use remio’s “Ask” or “Smart Writing” features. This ensures organized content enhances these tools.
