Claude Enterprise now supplies admins with usage and cost dashboards broken down by group and user. The update includes spend alerts at set thresholds and API hooks for external cost platforms.
Anthropic released the tools on July 3, 2026. The changes address rising demand from enterprise buyers who need visibility into AI spend before budgets overrun.
The new controls sit inside the existing admin console. They do not require separate software licenses. Teams using SCIM groups for identity management can now filter reports directly by those groups.
Admins can view cost attribution for artifacts, file edits, skills, and connectors. This granularity lets finance teams tie specific AI activities to project codes.
What Changed in the Admin Console
The update centers on two new tabs in the Claude Code management console. One tab labeled Usage shows active developers, session counts, and frequent commands. The other tab labeled Value displays productivity lift estimates, cost per commit, and annual value projections.
These tabs pull from the same underlying data lake that powers the main analytics dashboard. Admins no longer need to export raw logs to build internal reports.
Natural language queries inside the dashboard return exportable charts. A user can type "show last quarter spend by marketing group" and receive a filtered bar chart that can be downloaded as CSV.
Spend Threshold Alerts Arrive at 75 and 90 Percent
Enterprise administrators can now set organization-wide spend caps. The system sends email notifications when usage hits 75 percent and 90 percent of the cap. End users receive in-app warnings at 75 percent and 95 percent.
The thresholds are configurable per organization. Finance teams can map alerts to existing procurement workflows.
Admin API endpoints now support automated approval of quota increases and tagging of users who drive rapid spend changes. These programmatic hooks reduce manual ticket triage for large deployments.
Analytics API Integrations with Datadog and CloudZero
Data from the new dashboard can be streamed through the Analytics API into Datadog Cloud Cost Management and CloudZero. This removes the need for custom ETL jobs when teams already standardize on those platforms.
The integration covers model-level cost attribution rather than aggregate token counts. Teams can therefore compare spend across Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Claude 4 Opus and future model releases without maintaining separate mapping tables.
Default Model Settings and Permission Controls Tighten
Administrators gained the ability to lock default models at the group level. They can also restrict which users may access higher-cost models through the same interface that controls spend caps.
The controls appear alongside existing SCIM and SSO settings. No additional identity provider configuration is required.
What the Release Leaves Unclear
The productivity estimates displayed in the Value tab rely on internal Anthropic models. Independent verification of those estimates remains unavailable. Enterprises that need audit-grade ROI numbers will still run their own measurement programs.
Usage data for connector costs currently aggregates at the skill level. Granular routing logs that show exactly which external API calls were triggered are not yet exposed through the dashboard or API.
Immediate Steps for Existing Customers
Teams already on Claude Enterprise can enable the dashboards without a support ticket. The features are live in the admin console under the new Usage and Value sections. Spend alerts require entering cap values in the billing settings page.
Organizations using Datadog or CloudZero can test the Analytics API within the same console view. Documentation for the required API keys appears in the developer portal under the analytics section.
What to Watch Next
Watch the next quarterly Anthropic earnings call for any mention of average enterprise spend per seat. A material change in that metric would indicate whether the new controls are actually shifting usage behavior.
Track GitHub activity on the public Admin API repository. New endpoint additions in the next eight weeks would signal further automation of quota and alert workflows.
Monitor whether competing vendors such as OpenAI or Google announce comparable group-level cost attribution features. Matching releases would turn the current differentiation into table stakes within six months.
