Getting Started
Welcome to remio, personal AI Assistant for busy knowledge workers (mangers, leaders, professionals, researchers, students etc).
The most prominent feature of remio is it can capture and manage almost everything for you. The following are the types of materials that remio can manage.
Note: Normal note created by hand.
Note (Marks): This type of note is created automatically when users highlight content and comments in the browser extension or by clicking "Comment" mode on header.
Collection: A collection is a container where you can group items together.
Resource: A resource is a copy in clean format of the page content, saved automatically when you view.
Chat: A chat is a query or answer in your chat history.
Folder: Syncs your local computer folders into remio, also including files in the synced folders.
File: Specific documents (e.g., PDF, Word, PPT) that remio auto-ingests from your synced folders
This guide will lead you through the installation and getting started process of remio, including the desktop application and browser extension.
Installs the Desktop Application
The desktop application is the core of remio. Before using the browser plugin and mobile App (upcoming), you must install the desktop application first.
You can download the desktop application of remio from remio.ai. After downloading, you can find and open the installer file and drag remio's icon to the Applications folder to completes the installation.
Registration/Login
When remio is opened, you need to register or log in if you have not already done so, which supports Google and Apple for quick registration and login.
Downloads and Installs the Model
If you are logging into remio for the first time, remio will start downloading the model. The model is crucial for AI features of remio. The download may take a few minutes, depending on your internet speed. Please be patient.
Installs the Browser Extension
The browser extension is a must have for dozens of great features of remio, e.g. automatic webpage capture, highlighter, overviews and outlines, Youtube summarizer and screenshotting etc, so it's highly recommended to install.
After login, you will be prompted to install the remio Chrome Extension. You can also find the extension through this link from extension store of Chrome.
Sync Your Local Folders & Files
By connecting your local folders, remio can seamlessly read and analyze your PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files, making them instantly available for search, Q&A, and writing without ever needing to manually upload them.
To get started, you can setup to select the folders you wish to sync.
Grant Permission: remio requires [Full Disk Access] to view and sync the files from your chosen directories.
Select Folders: You can designate one or more folders for remio to monitor. All supported files within these locations will be added to your knowledge base.
Your Security is Paramount: remio is designed to process your files locally on your device. Your original documents are never uploaded to external servers, ensuring your sensitive information remains private and secure on your machine.
