Jiulian Technology's 2026 3511 Profit Headline Is a Midpoint, Not a Result

Jiulian Technology has forecast a first-half profit turnaround, but the widely circulated 2026 3511 figure is not a reported net profit. It is an approximate midpoint derived from the company's projected range.
The Chinese hardware and communications supplier expects first-half net profit attributable to shareholders between RMB 31.60 million and RMB 38.62 million. That compares with a RMB 123.15 million loss during the first half of 2025.
This is still a substantial reversal. However, calling RMB 35.11 million the company's completed first-half profit overstates what Jiulian Technology disclosed. The July filing contained an unaudited forecast, not finalized financial statements.
That distinction matters because Jiulian attributes the improvement to three broad forces: a better business mix, tighter supply-chain management, and growth tied to domestic AI infrastructure. Investors must now determine how much profit came from repeatable operations and how much depended on temporary cost or accounting effects.
The 2026 3511 Figure Is Not a Final Profit Number
The central correction is simple: Jiulian Technology forecast a range, while the headline converted that range into a single number.
Jiulian Technology issued its first-half performance forecast on July 16, 2026. The forecast covers the six months from January 1 through June 30.
The company's earnings forecast estimated attributable net profit between RMB 31.5992 million and RMB 38.6213 million. It also projected net profit excluding nonrecurring gains between RMB 21.1526 million and RMB 28.1746 million.
RMB 35.11 million sits near the midpoint of the attributable-profit range. It therefore offers a convenient summary, but it is not a figure directly reported as the completed result.
The mathematical midpoint is RMB 35.11025 million. Depending on the rounding method, that becomes approximately RMB 35.11 million. The precision implied by the circulating RMB 35.1102 million figure is therefore misleading.
That problem is more than a minor formatting issue. A range communicates uncertainty, while a point estimate creates the appearance of settled accounting.
Jiulian explicitly described the figures as preliminary calculations prepared by its finance department. The forecast had not been audited by a certified public accountant.
The company also told investors to rely on its formal 2026 interim report for accurate financial data. Until that report arrives, revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, cash flow, and segment contributions remain incomplete.
The direction of travel is clearer than the final destination. Jiulian expects to move from a major loss to a positive attributable profit. Yet the exact scale of that profit remains unconfirmed.
The difference between the top and bottom of the forecast range is roughly RMB 7.02 million. That spread represents more than one-fifth of the low-end estimate, making it material to any assessment of the turnaround.
The adjusted-profit range introduces another layer of uncertainty. At its midpoint, adjusted profit would be roughly RMB 24.66 million, meaning nonrecurring items account for part of the expected attributable result.
Those items do not invalidate the turnaround. They do make the quality and durability of the recovery harder to judge from the forecast alone.
Readers should therefore interpret the 2026 3511 phrase as shorthand for an estimate. It is not a substitute for the income statement that Jiulian has yet to publish.
The Turnaround Started Before the Half-Year Forecast
Jiulian's first-quarter results support the turnaround narrative, but they do not fully explain the expected second-quarter contribution.
Jiulian entered 2026 after a difficult year. Its audited 2025 results showed revenue of RMB 2.389 billion, down 4.74 percent from the preceding year.
Attributable net loss reached RMB 210.75 million in 2025, compared with a RMB 141.83 million loss in 2024. Adjusted net loss was RMB 198.31 million.
The company's 2025 annual results therefore established a demanding comparison. Jiulian was not recovering from a mildly weak period. It was trying to reverse two consecutive annual losses.
The first concrete improvement appeared in the March quarter. Revenue reached RMB 701.93 million, up 28.50 percent from RMB 546.26 million one year earlier.
Attributable net profit reached RMB 15.09 million. During the first quarter of 2025, Jiulian had recorded an attributable loss of RMB 56.48 million.
The first-quarter filing also showed operating profit of RMB 17.66 million. The previous comparable period produced an operating loss of RMB 65.07 million.
Operating cash flow strengthened as well. Net cash generated by operating activities reached RMB 136.78 million, compared with RMB 32.12 million one year earlier.
These figures provide evidence that the recovery began before Jiulian issued its half-year forecast. The forecast is not resting entirely on an unexplained final-week adjustment.
However, the first-quarter numbers also let readers estimate what happened during the second quarter. If first-half attributable profit lands within the forecast range, the implied second-quarter contribution would be about RMB 16.51 million to RMB 23.53 million.
That would keep Jiulian profitable after the initial turn in the March quarter. It would not represent an explosive acceleration.
The distinction matters because a durable turnaround normally requires several reporting periods of positive operating performance. One quarter can reflect shipment timing, customer acceptance dates, inventory decisions, or temporary expense movements.
Jiulian's first-quarter revenue growth offers a stronger signal than profit alone. Higher sales combined with a move into profit suggest that operating leverage and product margins improved together.
Operating leverage occurs when revenue rises faster than operating costs, allowing more incremental sales to reach operating profit. It can support rapid earnings recovery, but it also works in reverse when orders slow.
The balance sheet still warrants attention. At March 31, Jiulian reported RMB 2.85 billion in total liabilities against RMB 3.62 billion in total assets.
Current liabilities were RMB 2.53 billion. Cash and cash equivalents totaled RMB 204.79 million, although receivables and other working-capital assets also supported near-term liquidity.
That structure places additional importance on cash conversion. An accounting profit becomes more persuasive when customers pay promptly and operating cash flow remains positive.
The first quarter cleared that test. The formal interim report must show whether the pattern survived through June.
Better Mix and Lower Costs Drove the Reversal
Jiulian says the recovery came from core-customer shipments and supply-chain savings, with AI infrastructure adding a third source of growth.
The performance forecast identified business-mix optimization as its first driver. Jiulian said shipments to core customers represented a larger share of its business, while its market share increased.
That explanation points toward the company's established communications-hardware operations. Jiulian sells smart set-top boxes, residential gateways, routers, optical-network equipment, and communications modules.
These products connect the company to large telecom and broadcasting customers. Such relationships can deliver substantial volume, but procurement cycles and contract pricing can produce sharp margin changes.
Jiulian experienced the downside of that model in 2025. Its interim report said lower winning prices and weaker demand affected smart network set-top boxes supplied through a China Mobile procurement program.
The company also completed fewer photovoltaic and smart-city projects during that comparison period. Lower project acceptance reduced revenue and gross profit.
Those pressures helped push first-half 2025 attributable net loss to RMB 123.15 million. Adjusted net loss reached RMB 121.02 million.
The 2026 forecast indicates that the operating mix moved in the opposite direction. Greater shipment concentration among core customers can improve factory utilization and spread fixed costs over more units.
It can also increase customer concentration risk. A larger contribution from major accounts strengthens near-term output while making future results more sensitive to procurement schedules and contract renewals.
Jiulian named supply-chain efficiency as the second turnaround driver. The company said it anticipated market conditions, built strategic inventory, and locked in supplies before costs rose.
This approach can protect gross margin when component prices increase. It gives a manufacturer more predictable input costs and reduces the risk of buying critical parts during a shortage.
The strategy also carries a tradeoff. Inventory accumulated at the wrong price or in the wrong configuration can absorb cash and create write-down risk.
That danger is especially relevant in communications equipment, where technical specifications and customer requirements can change between procurement rounds. Components that protect one contract's margin can become less useful if the next contract adopts another platform.
The formal interim report should reveal whether inventory expanded and how quickly it moved. Investors should compare inventory growth with revenue growth and examine any change in impairment provisions.
Jiulian's third explanation was growth in new businesses linked to China's AI infrastructure buildout. The company did not quantify that contribution in the forecast.
That omission prevents readers from separating AI-related earnings from gains in traditional communications hardware. It also leaves open whether the AI contribution came from servers, integrated appliances, edge terminals, project services, or another product category.
Jiulian has spent several reporting periods broadening its portfolio. Its disclosed products include edge-computing devices, AI servers, large-model appliances, domestic computing products, robotics hardware, batteries, and energy-storage systems.
This diversification offers more routes to growth. It also makes the income statement harder to interpret without segment-level revenue and margin details.
The key question is therefore not whether AI appeared in management's explanation. It is whether AI-linked sales generated material gross profit after hardware, integration, support, and development costs.
Until Jiulian publishes that breakdown, the most defensible reading remains conservative. Traditional shipment recovery and procurement savings appear to be the documented foundation. AI infrastructure is an additional factor whose scale has not been disclosed.
AI Infrastructure Adds Growth and Attribution Risk
Jiulian's AI positioning is strategically relevant, but the earnings forecast does not prove that AI became the main engine of profit.
Jiulian is not presenting itself as a developer of a general-purpose foundation model. Its role sits closer to the physical and integration layers of the technology stack.
The company has described products spanning computing servers, edge-computing terminals, scheduling infrastructure, and integrated large-model appliances. It has also discussed solutions combining models with private data and industry workflows.
That position could benefit from domestic spending on computing capacity. Organizations deploying AI need servers, networking, storage, edge devices, software integration, and ongoing technical support.
Jiulian can draw on its experience manufacturing communications devices and serving institutional customers. Its established delivery network may help it compete for projects that require hardware customization and regional support.
The company has reported AI-related trials in government services, water management, and internal enterprise operations. These examples included document generation, knowledge retrieval, customer service, and human-resources support.
Those use cases illustrate where integrated appliances can fit. Some institutions prefer systems deployed within controlled environments because their documents or operational data cannot move freely to public services.
An appliance vendor can combine compute hardware, a model, retrieval software, security controls, and deployment support. The result is easier to purchase than assembling each component separately.
However, the economics differ from those of a software subscription. Hardware and project integration usually bring component costs, delivery obligations, acceptance milestones, and working-capital demands.
A project may produce considerable revenue without generating a correspondingly high margin. It may also require customization that limits reuse across customers.
Jiulian's 2025 disclosures included performance figures from several AI deployments, but those figures were company-reported. They were not presented as independently verified benchmarks.
That does not make them unusable. It means they should be treated as customer-case claims rather than proof of broad commercial adoption.
The half-year forecast creates a related attribution problem. Management cited AI infrastructure alongside business-mix improvement and supply-chain savings without assigning percentages to any factor.
Suppose most of the earnings gain came from better pricing, higher factory utilization, and cheaper components. In that case, AI would remain strategically promising but financially secondary.
Suppose instead that new AI products delivered meaningful revenue with healthy margins. That would indicate Jiulian has found a growth category capable of reducing dependence on set-top boxes and operator procurement.
Both interpretations remain consistent with the short forecast. Only segment disclosures can distinguish between them.
Investors should also separate AI infrastructure demand from lasting vendor advantage. A broad investment cycle can lift many equipment suppliers before customers decide which platforms deserve repeat orders.
Repeat business matters because first deployments often include experimental budgets. Sustainable demand emerges when customers expand capacity, renew support, and standardize the vendor's products across additional sites.
Jiulian's competitive field is wide. Telecom-equipment companies, server manufacturers, systems integrators, cloud providers, and specialized appliance vendors can all pursue parts of the same demand.
Larger rivals may offer broader product portfolios and stronger procurement leverage. Smaller specialists may move faster in narrow vertical markets.
Jiulian's potential advantage lies between those groups. It has manufacturing experience and institutional relationships, yet it can target customized projects that may be too small for the largest vendors.
That position is useful only if projects produce acceptable margins and timely cash receipts. Growth funded by rising receivables would provide a weaker signal than growth accompanied by operating cash generation.
The 2026 3511 midpoint headline cannot answer that question. It compresses a complicated operating transition into one attractive number.
What the Forecast Still Does Not Show
The turnaround is credible enough to investigate, but not detailed enough to declare complete.
The first uncertainty concerns final accounting. Jiulian's forecast remains unaudited, and the company described the estimates as preliminary.
Final results can move within the projected range as accountants complete revenue recognition, impairment testing, tax calculations, and expense accruals. A result outside the range would require closer examination.
The second uncertainty concerns nonrecurring gains. Attributable profit is forecast between RMB 31.60 million and RMB 38.62 million, while adjusted profit is forecast between RMB 21.15 million and RMB 28.17 million.
The gap ranges from roughly RMB 10.45 million to RMB 10.45 million when comparing corresponding endpoints. That suggests nonrecurring items add a relatively stable amount across the forecast.
Readers need the interim report to identify those items. Government grants, asset disposals, investment gains, and other accounting categories have different implications for future earnings.
The third uncertainty concerns gross margin. Jiulian said supply-chain planning resisted rising costs, but it did not disclose the resulting margin.
A higher gross margin would support the argument that product mix and procurement discipline improved. A flat margin paired with lower expenses would imply a different recovery mechanism.
The fourth uncertainty concerns customer concentration. Jiulian cited a rising share of shipments to core customers.
That can improve volume visibility during an active contract. It can also increase exposure to a small number of buyers with substantial negotiating power.
Contract wins do not guarantee stable margins. Large customers can demand lower prices during subsequent procurement rounds, especially when competing suppliers offer similar hardware.
Jiulian's own history demonstrates this pressure. Lower set-top-box procurement prices contributed to weaker results during the first half of 2025.
The fifth uncertainty concerns inventory. Strategic stockpiling and locked supplies protected Jiulian from cost inflation according to management.
The interim balance sheet must show how much inventory remained at the end of June. It should also clarify inventory turnover and impairment.
A sixth uncertainty involves working capital. Jiulian's March balance sheet included RMB 784.71 million in accounts receivable and RMB 242.85 million in notes receivable.
Those balances are not automatically alarming for a project and hardware supplier. They do mean that collection speed can materially affect financial resilience.
The first quarter produced RMB 136.78 million in operating cash flow, which was encouraging. Six-month cash flow will show whether that result represented a continuing improvement or favorable payment timing.
The seventh uncertainty concerns AI revenue classification. Jiulian has products and projects touching AI, edge computing, smart cities, domestic computing, and industry software.
Without segment figures, investors cannot tell whether AI sales are new revenue, renamed infrastructure revenue, or bundled components within larger projects.
The eighth uncertainty is duration. Jiulian reported annual losses in both 2024 and 2025.
Its 2024 annual report recorded attributable net loss of RMB 141.83 million. The 2025 loss then widened to RMB 210.75 million.
One profitable half would reverse the immediate direction, but it would not erase that record. Jiulian needs consistent profits across multiple periods to establish a durable recovery.
The ninth uncertainty is research intensity. Jiulian's first-quarter research and development expense was RMB 36.69 million, down from RMB 39.87 million a year earlier.
Lower research spending supported the expense comparison, although revenue growth caused research intensity to fall even more sharply. The company must balance near-term profitability with investment in new products.
Reducing ineffective spending can improve both innovation and margins. Cutting essential development simply shifts costs into the future.
The formal report should therefore be judged as a connected system. Revenue, margin, expenses, inventory, receivables, cash flow, and product investment matter together.
A single profit number cannot establish earnings quality. The full statements can.
Three Signals Will Test Whether the Turnaround Lasts
The next phase is about verification: the final profit, the source of margin improvement, and the conversion of earnings into cash.
The first signal is Jiulian's formal 2026 interim report. It should confirm where attributable profit lands within the forecast range.
A result near the upper end would strengthen the turnaround narrative. A result near the lower end would still represent a major improvement, but it would leave less room for operational setbacks.
The report should also reconcile attributable and adjusted earnings. A clear explanation of nonrecurring gains will show how much profit came from repeatable activity.
The second signal is the relationship among revenue, gross margin, and inventory. Revenue growth accompanied by higher gross margin would support Jiulian's business-mix explanation.
Stable inventory turnover would reinforce the company's claim that strategic purchasing improved economics. A sharp inventory buildup would make the supply-chain benefit less certain.
Product and segment disclosures will also help identify the source of growth. Investors should look for quantified contributions from smart terminals, communications modules, AI infrastructure, smart-city services, and newer manufacturing categories.
The third signal is cash conversion through the third quarter. Continued positive operating cash flow would show that the accounting recovery is producing usable liquidity.
Receivable growth should remain proportionate to sales. Slower collections or a rising need for short-term funding would weaken the quality of reported profit.
Repeat AI orders would provide an additional clue within this third signal. Follow-on deployments carry more weight than isolated pilots because they indicate customer acceptance beyond an initial experiment.
The 2026 3511 headline captures why the story attracted attention, but it should not become the final verdict. Jiulian Technology has supplied enough evidence to establish a real first-half reversal.
It has not yet supplied enough detail to determine whether the reversal came mainly from structural product gains, temporary procurement advantages, or a mixture of both.
Watch the formal interim statements rather than the midpoint headline. Compare adjusted profit with attributable profit, then follow the cash.
If margins, inventory turnover, and operating cash flow improve together, Jiulian's recovery will look substantially stronger. If they diverge, RMB 35.11 million will remain a convenient estimate attached to a more complicated business transition.
