Seedream 5.0 Pro is now available inside Runway. The update allows users to generate images that contain clear, readable text in up to 14 languages.
The change targets a long standing weakness in AI image tools. Most models still produce garbled or incorrect lettering when text is required. Seedream 5.0 Pro claims to fix that problem by processing prompts or reference images directly.
Users can already test the feature through the Runway platform. The announcement came from the official Runway account on X.
What the update actually delivers
The new version accepts either a text prompt or an uploaded reference image. It then renders text inside the generated image with improved legibility. The supported languages currently include English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, and Turkish.
Runway states that the model was trained on additional multilingual text data. No external benchmarks were released with the update. The company simply says the output now matches human typesetting quality in most cases.
Who benefits and who faces pressure
Design teams that need localized marketing visuals gain the most immediate value. Instead of editing text in post production, they can request finished images with correct typography in one step.
Competing image generators now face a direct comparison. Tools that still struggle with non Latin scripts must improve or lose ground on multilingual projects. Runway positioned the release as a response to user requests rather than a competitive move.
Limits that remain unclear
The announcement provides no data on accuracy rates across the 14 languages. It also does not disclose how the model handles mixed language text or very long strings. Independent tests have not yet appeared.
Runway has not confirmed whether the feature requires a paid plan or sits behind additional usage limits. The post only directs users to try the model inside the existing interface.
What to watch in the next three months
Teams will test the model on real campaigns. Results shared on social platforms will show whether the text quality holds under different lighting, fonts, and layouts.
Competitors are expected to release similar updates or publish their own multilingual benchmarks. Any public comparison dataset will quickly become the reference point for the category.
Runway may also expand the language list or add controls for font style and placement. Each of these changes will be tracked by users who rely on text heavy visuals.
Further testing across languages and use cases will determine whether the claimed improvement becomes a lasting advantage.
