Currently, to ensure an optimal AI experience, remio only supports Mac computers with Apple Silicon (M-series chips). We have a waitlist for Windows users, and a mobile app is planned for the future.

To unlock the full potential of remio, we strongly recommend enabling: the remio Extension and Local File Sync. This helps remio build a more comprehensive personal knowledge base, leading to significantly more accurate and insightful answers when you use “Ask remio”.
remio adopts a hybrid architecture combining local and cloud-based models:
Data Storage: All web content is stored locally on your device.
Model Deployment: Depending on the task, remio dynamically uses local models (e.g., offline models downloaded during setup) and cloud models (e.g., Gemini 2.0 Flash).
Core Advantage: Local storage ensures data privacy and security, while cloud models deliver more powerful AI capabilities.
This design allows you to benefit from secure offline usage while accessing continuously evolving AI through the cloud.
To ensure speed and privacy, certain functions like data embedding and parsing are processed locally on your device. The small, specialized models required for these tasks are downloaded. However, the large language models (LLMs) that power features like “Ask remio” are accessed remotely and require an internet connection. These powerful models are not downloaded to your device.
