Knowledge Base Dashboard

From first-time use to daily use

When you open the Knowledge Base Dashboard, it focuses on review and insights (a big-picture view), so you can quickly understand what you’ve been saving, what you’ve been exploring recently, and what to do next—without needing to manually organize or manage your library.

The page is built around three principles: zero management burden (no manual folders/tags required), smart presentation (AI helps surface value), and action guidance (each module points to a next step).

If you have 0 valid items (system/preset content is excluded), the Dashboard shows an empty-state message like “Start capturing your first webpage” and does not show weekly insights. If you have 1–10 valid items, the Dashboard shows the Past 30 days capture stats (count + heatmap) but hides weekly insights and shows “Not enough content to generate insights.”  Once you have 10+ valid items (after filtering preset/system content), Weekly Insights can be generated and displayed normally.

For everyday use, you’ll see Items Saved · Past 30d: it shows how many items you captured in the last 30 days and a GitHub-style heatmap that visualizes daily activity intensity.

When Weekly Insights is available, it summarizes your last 7 days of content using an LLM, adds a short weekly/daily quote at the top, and syncs results to the Ask home page. It includes four parts: Quote, Your Focus Areas (“what I’m studying”), How Ideas Connect (“how they relate”), and Worth Asking (“what to ask next”). Tapping Your Focus Areas starts an Ask session to summarize that topic (web search is OFF by default), while tapping Worth Asking starts an Ask session to “search and explain in depth” (web search is ON by default).

If insight generation is not ready or encounters issues, you may see: Generating insights… / Failed to generate. Please retry. / Please try again later.

To help you not miss new insights, the sidebar Knowledge Base entry can show a blue badge “1” when (1) insights have never been generated or were generated more than 7 days ago, and (2) there were more than 10 valid new/updated items in the past 7 days (preset/system content excluded). The badge disappears after you enter the Dashboard, after insights generate successfully, or after you manually refresh.

Every Monday at 09:00 (device local time), you’ll receive a Weekly Recap notification; tapping it opens the app and jumps to the Knowledge Base Dashboard to show/trigger Weekly Insights.

Tips

  1. Use it as a weekly review entry point: open it from the Monday 09:00 Weekly Recap push to quickly review your week.

  2. Tap “Your Focus Areas” for a quick recap: it starts an Ask summary based on your own content, and web search stays OFF (usually faster and more “personal library” focused).

  3. Tap “Worth Asking” to go deeper: it starts an Ask session with web search ON, designed for deeper exploration.

  4. If you don’t see insights, check your valid item count: insights require 10+ valid items after filtering preset/system content.

FAQ

Q: Why can’t I see Weekly Insights?

A: Weekly Insights won’t generate if you have fewer than 10 valid items (after filtering preset/system content), and you’ll see “Not enough content to generate insights.”

Q: Why do I see “Start capturing your first webpage”?

A: That appears when you have 0 valid items, and Weekly Insights is hidden.

Q: What if insights keep showing “Generating…”, “Failed…”, or “Try again later”?

A: These are the supported states for insight generation: generating, failed, and timeout.

Q: What is the blue “1” badge on the Knowledge Base sidebar? Why does it disappear after I open the Dashboard?

A: It means new insights are available; it shows only when insights are overdue/never generated and you have enough new/updated valid content, and it disappears once you open the Dashboard or once insights are generated/refreshed.

Q: Why does tapping “Your Focus Areas” or “Worth Asking” jump me into Ask?

A: Both are designed to auto-start Ask: “Your Focus Areas” summarizes a topic (web search OFF), and “Worth Asking” explores a question in depth (web search ON).
