Initialization
Installs the Desktop Application
The desktop application is the core of remio. Before using the browser plugin and mobile App (upcoming), you must install the desktop application first.
You can download the desktop application of remio from remio.ai. After downloading, you can find and open the installer file and drag remio's icon to the Applications folder to complete the installation.
Registration/Login
When remio is opened, you need to register or log in if you have not already done so, which supports Google and Apple for quick registration, and Email Verification (Standard OTP login, password-free).
Guided Setup
After you log in for the first time, remio begins a new guided setup process designed for a "Progressive Value Unlock" experience. The core AI model starts downloading in the background, allowing you to configure remio while it prepares. This process walks you through a few sequential steps to get you started quickly.
Step 1: Connect Your Local Files
The first step is to connect remio with the sources you use every day, starting with your local files. You will be prompted to grant access to a folder, with the Desktopfolders being recommended as a starting point. You could 1-click check Downloads & Document to sync as well.
By integrating with your files, remio builds a comprehensive knowledge base, making all your information instantly searchable and ready for AI-powered tasks without manual uploads. To ensure your privacy, your original documents are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to external cloud storage & servers. You can always add more folders later from the settings.
Step 2: Enable Voice Recording
Next, you can choose to enable voice recording permissions. This feature allows you to turn hours of recording or meeting into instant overview and get ready-to-share meeting minutes, with all transcription processed locally for your privacy.
Step 3: Install the Browser Extension
The browser extension is highly recommended as it enables dozens of great features like automatic webpage capture, highlighting, and summarizing online content . You will be guided to the Chrome extension store to install it. After installation, the remio application will be automatically brought to the foreground to continue the setup.
All Set & First Interaction
Once the core model has finished downloading & initialization, the setup is complete.
Instead of reading introductory documents, you will be immediately guided to experience remio's value by asking your first question. You will see suggested prompts based on the content you have just synced, such as "Summarize the report I just downloaded" or "Find the key points from the latest PDF in my Downloads folder". This allows you to get meaningful results right away.
