TapXWorld ChinaTextbook reached eighth place on a GitHub Trending hot list on August 6, despite receiving no repository update since October 2025. The renewed attention is notable because this is not a new software release. It is a six-year-old collection of Chinese textbook files, organized through a platform built primarily for source code.

The ranking came from a BettaFish snapshot rather than a dated announcement from TapXWorld. GitHub does not publish permanent, timestamped records for every Trending position. The precise duration and geographic scope of the ranking therefore remain unverified.

What can be verified is the scale behind the renewed attention. On August 6, the repository metadata showed 76,793 stars, 17,336 forks, and 602 subscribers. It also showed that the project was created on January 5, 2020.

Those numbers turn a passing ranking into a more interesting story. TapXWorld ChinaTextbook has become a large, community-distributed archive without a declared software license or clear rights record for every included book. Its popularity exposes a conflict between convenient access and dependable provenance.
