Ask remio

Using the Ask Feature in remio

This section explains how users can use the Ask feature in remio to query their personal knowledge base and interact with generated responses.

Accessing the Ask Interface
  • Users can access the Ask interface by selecting the "Ask" menu item within the remio application.

Entering Questions or Prompts
  • In the Ask interface, users enter questions or prompts in natural language using the provided input box.

  • To submit the prompt, users press the Enter key or select the Send button. remio then begins processing the input.

Understanding remio’s Response
  • remio searches the user’s personal knowledge base for relevant information based on the submitted prompt.

  • While generating a response, remio displays a "generating" status. During this time, users can pause the process or re-enter a new prompt.

  • Once complete, remio displays the answer in the Ask interface. Responses may include citations from the user’s personal knowledge base or public knowledge, marked with numerical superscripts. Different superscript numbers indicate distinct sources.

Interacting with remio’s Answer
  • Users can take the following actions on a generated answer:

    • Save as New Note: Select "Rem as new note" to save the answer as a note. Users can then navigate to the note details page.

    • Copy: Select "Copy" to copy the answer to the clipboard.

    • Like/Dislike: Rate the answer using the "Like" or "Dislike" options.

    • See Consulted Sources: Select this option to view the specific sources cited in the answer.

    • Delete: Select "Delete" to remove the answer from the interface.

Important Tips for Using Ask
  • The Ask feature primarily draws answers from the user’s personal knowledge base, including notes, web pages, documents, and other collected content.

  • Unlike session-based chat systems, remio’s Ask interface maintains all chat history on a single page. Users can scroll to review past interactions.

  • Users can delete prompts they have entered.

  • While remio is generating an answer, users cannot submit new prompts but can pause the generation process and enter a new prompt instead.

Starting Conversations with "Ask remio about"
  • Users can initiate a conversation from any window using the global assistant’s one-click activation feature.

  • After activating the global assistant, users type text and select "Ask remio about" from the options.

  • remio then navigates to the Ask interface in the current window, using the typed content as a prompt to start the conversation.

  • Conversations started this way share the same history as those in the main remio application.
